Rail car wheel with friction bearing: Jeff Mast, Canton, Michigan The classic image of a rail car wheel, but still in use with friction bearings, long prohibited in interchange by the AAR. It would appear that the journal box has been leaking lubricant for some time and we can only hope that brass bearing will not run hot when moved. |
