B&W image of CH's: Robert Doherty, Ithaca, New York Striking in simplicity with strong lines directed at a mid-photo vanishing point, the almost perfectly symmetrical backlit image is offset only by the position of the cloud hidden sun in the sky. We view a still life image, yet no matter where we look, our eyes are pulled to that distant center point. Printed with a compressed and darkened tonal scale somewhat similar to the Simpson Kalisher prints displayed, the mood appears somber. |
