Judges' comment:
A muted color palette and low, wide angle encourage the viewer to focus on the strong lines of the soaring highway bridge. It takes a moment to notice the approaching train and the buildings in the background. The photo delivers several messages: railroads tend to follow natural geography while highways leap over it; although railroads helped develop and continue to support many cities, their preferred place is on the other side of the river.
