What would have been a traditional photo in direct sunlight was transformed into a moody and wistful image of mountain railroading by the soft, pastel light at the edge of day. The two arresting light sources, the pink glow on the hilltops and the headlights of the train, urge the viewer to consider the relationship between the railroad and the landscape.
