By composing into the sunset glow, the photographer rendered the sky and trees as two bold, contrasting forms, whose shapes lead the eye directly to the tiny silhouette of the approaching locomotive. The long telephoto view compresses the scene and accentuates the pleasing vertical curve in the rails, which serve as additional leading lines.
